Australian Citizenship

AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP

Australian Citizenship is acquired either by descent or by conferral.

If you were born overseas and one or both of your parents are Australian citizens, you may be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship by descent.

If you are an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship by conferral. Citizenship requirements depend on the age of the applicant, and generally include residence and character requirements.
